Ascend the tower during one of our guided tours. The 141 steps up to the top are worth the effort: you can look forward to a stunning view over the rooftops of the old town!
The Peaked Tower is located at the ‘Mainspitze’, where the river Tauber flows into the Main.
The 36.5-metre Pointed Tower was erected in the 13th century and given an octagonal superstructure during the 15th century in an attempt to correct the leaning lower part. It was used as a gaol for drunkards and shrewish women. On the inside, the so-called ‘fear hole’ for recalcitrant prisoners remains preserved from this period. The original entrance is 10 metres above ground level and was only accessible via a ladder.
